1973 WORLDS BEST AND BIGGEST STEER BURGERS ARE INTRODUCED TO THE WORLD!
Sutter's Mill & Mining Co. was established in 1973 by Kevin D. Klein, at 1200 Western Avenue here in Albany New York across from the University at Albany. When Sutter's first opened it was very much like any other bar in the 1970's. The age for legal consumption of alcohol was 18 years of age, and well, with a college across the street, business was very good. As times change so did Sutter's, Kevin decided that Sutter's had to become much more of restaurant, so in 1985, Sutter's went through a $700,000.00 remodeling job, the 2500 square foot deck was added and an award winning menu based largely on our flagship product, the STEER BURGER was created. Our entire history has been a commitment to the Worlds greatest burger. Sutter's continues to thrive based on three founding principles, Quality, Value and Consistency. Sutter's Burger's are fresh never frozen, unless being shipped to one of our online customers. Sutter's Burgers are always made to an 85/15 ratio. 85 percent beef to 15 percent fat cap.
Sutter's burgers have a trade secret compaction ratio, which is how tightly pressed each Steer Burger is. That is how we are able to get the burgers to cook to the exact temperature each time.
Sutter's Burgers are always cooked to order. Sutter's Burgers are served on a bakery fresh 4oz. sesame roll and a Hugh dill pickle spear.
